Furniture has to be practical – there is absolutely no point in having any item of furniture which doesn’t do what it is supposed to do.

Equally there is no point in having a piece of furniture which does not look good.  With the cost of property and now the hardship of the global economy, many of us are not moving home at the moment, but we are spending more money in making the best of what we have.

Research suggests that we are choosing quality more and more, no longer do we want a sofa which looks good, is in expensive, and we expect to have to replace in a couple of years.  The trend now is for stylish items which will last for years, and will become timeless classics.

So how do you choose your perfect single sofa bed?  The interior design market is always quick to react to trends and as a result there are now lots of contempory looking sofa chairs which are well built, are comfortable and are designed to be sufficiently neutral to fit with many different interiors and styles.

First you must consider the colour you are going to go for.  When looking for versatility avoiding patterns is essential.  By buying plain colours they can be dressed and accessorised to fit with differing schemes and styles.

The other essential for versatility is choosing clean lines.  This is increasingly easy when due to the increase in contemporary designs and styles which are flooding the market.

So now that you have an idea as to colour and overall look, you still have to fine the right quality.  Quality can be hard to define, but there are certain areas which you should definitely consider.  The first thing to consider is the fabric.  A good quality fabric should age well, it should look at least as good with a few marks and signs of aging as it did brand new.   If you do not get quality, then each and every mark will be a distraction and will soon become the only thing you or your guests notice about the item. 

The last thing to consider with regard to quality is the build of your sofa bed.  The fabric or leather should be professionally upholstered onto a well build and solid frame.  If the workmanship is substandard then your single sofa bed will not last long enough to become a timeless classic.
